TV is Ruining My Life!

Ladies and Germs, the Fall Season is upon us. And with that, we as the television audience, are bombarded with new shows. Most of which are crap.

Here is what I don't understand: why do the stations insist on taking the same idea, adding a different host/music/cast, and slap on a different title when it is the same exact show!?!? And what is even worse, is that the viewing audience buys into it! The shows that are "smart" and "different" get the shaft, because really, who wants to think when they watch TV. It is much more entertaining to watch grown men squeeze into girdles and fight over a bouquet. Ugh!

As a life-long, self-proclaimed Couch Potato, I am embarrassed by some of the crap that is on television. The Television Executives must be laughing their asses off at us. They are sitting around, thinking of the most hideous situations to put people in and getting paid for it. Not fair! And shame on us for buying into it!

I can admit that I like a good reality show now and again (TAR, The Apprentice, the Joe Schmo Show), but once a concept has been done, LEAVE IT ALONE!! Why must we re-visit it again and again?

Oh! And when something different and somewhat far-fetched (yet entertaining) does come along, what do you hear people say? "Oh that would never happen." Yeah, no shit, that's why I'm watching it!

Am I the only one that's getting bored of reality television? The only thing it is really teaching me is that are a lot of dumb fucks out there. A LOT.

On a different note, I am totally loving Desperate Housewives (did I just completely ruin my credibility there?). There are many things to hate about the show, but as far as I am concerned, it has one saving grace: Marcia Cross. Damn that woman plays a psycho like nobody's business! There was a scene in the first episode where she is standing in front of the mirror. I was on the edge of my seat just waiting for her to peel off her wig, revealing a HUGE disfiguring scar on the side of her head! That would be so cool! And would make the show that much better! Writers take note!

Also, I must jump on the Lost bandwagon. Hands down the best new show of the season and the only one that I truly look forward to each week. Plus, Ian Somerhalder...mmmm...Now that's good television...

By the way...... "Desperate Housewives"?

Does this show involve someone coming to fix the plumbing...?

I for one have never liked reality TV. This has nothing to do with the fact that I am addicted like hell to America's Next Top Model. Oops. But that;s not really reality per say, it's more like, um.. a comedy drama.

I have only ever really liked 3 shows... Due South, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. That was great writing and it made me laugh. The casts wored well together and it was good (although cheesy) TV.

I will give honourable mentions to That 70s Show and Charmed. While Charmed doesn't really have good writing or a great cast (ha ha) it amuses me to no end. And I SO want magikal powers, damnit!!

(oh, and in case you are wondering only the first two seasons of Due South count)

Oh, and Jem! She was a great cartoon. I love her.
